One of the most recognisable names in cabinet making from 1803 to 1942 due to their exceptionally high quality of work and being cabinet makers for the royal family.
(The Victoria and Albert museum hold their client list book which includes Queen Victoria).
The firm was originally founded in 1803 by William Holland and Stephen Taprell with some very highly regarded commissions between the years 1824-38. Following Taprell's retirement in 1843 the company then became known as Holland & Sons and worked alongside Thomas Dowbiggin at Osboune House where in 1853 they took over the premises at 23 Mount Street.
Such was the high regard for Holland & Sons that they were appointed to furnish and decorate the Royal residences of Windsor Castle, Sandringham, Balmoral and Marlborough.
Further to this they were commissioned many hundreds of times for the British Government at the Palace of Westminster, Victoria and Albert Museum and oversaw the State funeral of Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington and more.
